![]() ![]() But my head felt heavy and a little lopsided from how charged and busy this week was. ![]() I got my sacred 9.5 hours of sleep that I can usually manage from Saturday night to Sunday morning, it giving me enough energy to float around my house, do menial but intentional house chores and tick things of that little list on my notepad. ![]() I woke with a head full of rocks is sort of how I felt this morning. It’s code for some of these lyrics might make you think a little too hard about that one time your ex kissed you in this way or remember when this played and you were living in a city you loved and you were 21 and shit that was a long time ago now. I woke with a head full of rocks is an Avett Brothers lyric from the song titled Laundry Room, from the album I and Love and You, one of the most emotional and visceral albums in my Spotify library that may as well be marked in bold Sharpie: ONLY LISTEN TO THIS IF YOU ARE IN A GOOD PLACE EMOTIONALLY. My bestfriend Holly recently bought me a handy little Rhodia notepad that helps with this tremendously. If I ensure to carve out some time just for myself on the weekends(an active practice that can feel very challenging as an extrovert), I find myself humming to the Avett Brothers in my kitchen, cooking and writing a handwritten list of everything I’d like to do in my two days that are *almost* commitment free. I spent the day pottering around my home.Īfter the whirlwind of weekly commitments, spending most of my days at either one of my jobs or the gym or the grocery store or in the car, intentionally sitting in my home to do nothing on a Sunday can feel halting to my general energy output. ![]()
